Woke to a Dead Monitor
This morning, I awoke to a dead backlight on my Sony VAIO. Being a notebook that I bought in 2002, I suppose that’s not really a surprise. I have TV out and monitor out, I’m probably going to buy a new
monitor and connect it to the external monitor connector. I tried to borrow Jessie’s but it comes up out of range and I do not remember how to force that to reset. I use to know how in Windows but I forgot. That wouldn’t do me a lot of good now since I’m using Ubuntu and I don’t plan on going back.
Problem with Ubuntu and Evolution
I have also been having an issue with Evolution that comes with Ubuntu. I like it and I intend to drop Thunderbird and switch to Evolution. I’ve had one problem with it though, it keeps forgetting my passwords. I plan to go to the Ubuntu forum to check that out but if you know how to fix it, please comment or use the contact me form below and let me know!
I’ll have to take money out of going out of the country fund in order to buy a new monitor. This month everything is going to Christmas. I guess I could bump Jessie off her machine until next month but I really don’t want to do that. Dang that little hottie is expensive. :) No problem with it though, she’s worth far more than I can give her. In money and every other way.

Hey Rusty!
It might be worth a shot bringing the notebook to a technician for repair. Better yet have Jessie do it so you will not get the special Kano pricing. It may be something simple that can be fixed for 100p. By the way I agree with you about Oberman. I have actually gotten to the point wher I don’t follow the news so much. Too depressing! Take care and good luck.
Yea, may try that but I’m concerned that they may do more damage than good. :) Jessie needs a new monitor so it wont go to waste if we don’t need one.
Priced new ones yesterday. They are around P10,000 for a new one. She found a CRT that she said was HUGE for P1.5 This time of the year, I don’t have extra money. :( I don’t think I’ll take it out of the little savings I have since my departure is now within six months and I don’t have enough to leave.
Hi Rusty!
Where do you plan to go to and how long do you have to stay? That would make an interesting story.
I don’t know where I’m going to go. It will depend on how much money I have and if Jessie is able to go with me.
some of the places I have in mind are Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, or Indonesia. Cebu-Pacific air has prices below $100 in some of the places, one way though.
I really would love to go to Indonesia and go into the jungle but I’m not up to that and no idea what a guide would cost. It may have to be an armed guard too. :)
