Whacky Blood Sugar Behavior

My blood sugar is doing some very strange things. Its crashing when it makes no sense to me and today after walking for about 1.5 miles my blood sugar was a mind blowing 276. That’s after my walk. Perhaps its because I’ve not been walking as much as I should. I didn’t feel like it again today but just forced myself to do it. I had some sugar free candy that claims its safe for diabetics to use on the package.

I may have to confirm that. I’ve not been eating as much this month, in the past I used it to try to not eat anything with calories in it. I hope I’ve not been getting screwed around. Surely not. One time I was taking vitamins that where packed full of sugar and was pushing my blood sugar up.

Unruly Blood Sugar

Last night I had a scare. I was within moment of going to the hospital and within moments of passing out. I have had many low blood sugar spells. I had them for years before I developed diabetes. In my teen years, I would go for hours with that feeling and wonder what it was. Shaky feeling, weak, doesn’t feel good at all. Most diabetics say it is the worst feeling in the world. I long for the day when I was tough as nails, 16 and immortal. :)

Normal Blood Sugar

Wow, Great Blood Sugars

Just a few days ago, I was worried that I had insulin in my near future because I was getting too many over 200 readings. Since then, I’ve had two low blood sugars. Yesterday it was about to crash but I headed it off so I could walk. This morning I wake up with my blood sugar at 99.

I haven’t changed that much, renewed commitment to walking more but I was doing better than I thought. I have a pedometer. I had not downloaded its data into my computer for a while but when I did, I had averaged a mile a day for February. I’ve increased it to 1.5 miles now, maybe not an aerage but I try to walk that much per day. I need to get my walks back up to 2 miles in order to average 1.5. I think I’ll go on one my extra long routes today, depending on how the weather goes. That is, if doesn’t rain.

Challenging Days

Chronic illness are two scary words when you first hear them. Easy to forget when you heard them so long ago. High blood pressure at 29 is where it started I suppose. That probably scared me but I no longer remember. Diabetes did but I misunderstood the doctor, he was diagnosing “glucose intolerance.” That is just a precursor to diabetes. I think he was wrong since the test showed my blood sugar going over 200 at that time. But that’s not the point.

Blood Sugar Rising

My blood sugar has not been doing so great lately. I’ve started taking Actos again and there has been no low blood sugars. Perhaps taking it will help decrease my blood sugars and get it back down.

I’ve been fairly active. I plan to walk in a couple of hours if it does not rain too much. Only threatening to do so right now. It threatens more than it does so. We are approaching summer or the dry season but its okay with me if it stays cloudy all the time. Less sun means less heat. And I’m anti-heat!
