Bailout Or Bankruptcy
Bush’s Parting Bailout?
Perhaps congress wont bail out that automakers. If they don’t, maybe they’ll opt for that pre-negotiated bankruptcy which will allow them to bust the union or get the concession from the union that it wants. The problems with the car makers goes far deeper than the labor unions, regardless of what Fox News wants people to believe.
If congress does nothing, it wont have to face the wrath of the American people whom don’t seem to want any part of this. Seem to be bailouts every where but no one is bailing out you or me. IF congress does nothing the automakers will likely find a way and if they just can’t find a way, then Bush’s administration can step in and do the dirty deed.

Watching Fox News (no real choice for me) I see the talking heads discussing who deserves a bailout, the white collar workers at Citibank or blue collar workers at GM and other auto makers. The answer is easy, none of them do. It is the people of the US that deserve it. The entire economy deserves it.

Okay so we don’t call it that any more. It is now Department of Defense that sounds so much more peaceful. Really it does and perhaps a better name but here lately it seems to be Department of War would have been a better name. That’s the way the world sees us. They see us as the aggressor. Like it or not, that is the case.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Republican Robert Gates will stay on as Secretary of Defense. Well that is certainly reaching across the isle! The Huffington Post is not likely to be happy about it but I sure am.

A lot of left leaning blogs are making fun of Ann Coulter’s broken jaw and I have to admit, it is a little tempting for me to do the same. She says things that are pretty irresponsible, such as calling one US Democratic Senator, John Edwards a “faggot”. I once saw Phil Donahue rip her to shreds during an interview, using her own words.

Hillary Clinton has accepted the position of Secretary of State under Obama’s leadership. Rumors have been flying for the last week or so that she was the likely pick and now it is official.
If GM Fails Who Will Benefit
American People Will Be Hurt The Most?
It seems to me the people least likely to be hurt by a failure of General Motors are the same people that can most afford it. If General Motors files bankruptcy, sure the stock will tank but over the long haul, it will do just fine. The stock value will eventually recover.
Thus the stockholders which I’m sure includes employees at every level will be hurt the least over the long run. The exception being the employees working on the assemble line. Their contract will be re-negotiated if there is a bankruptcy and they will loose benefits, one would assume. That is the argument many are making for letting it fall into bankruptcy.

Please keep your promises. I voted for you and even sent money to your campaign because of one major reason. You don’t take PAC Money and you don’t take Corporate money. All that other money people sent you was a vote for you too.
