Mr. Sandman, LEAVE ME ALONE
From time to time, I go through these periods where I just cannot stay awake. The last week or so has been like that. Yesterday I got up around 7 or 8am. Later I went back to sleep and slept until around 5:30PM. I really don’t like this pattern when it hits. Right now I’m very sleepy as I type this.
I have been resisting it on many of the days. Drinking coffee to stay awake. Sometimes that didn’t work either. I always blamed it on lupus but the doctor said people don’t usually go to sleep with lupus. I asked some of my lupus friends and they said yes, it happens to them. One called it a coma sleep. I prefer to call it the zombie sleep.
I feel sleepy after writing the above. Now its another day, I’ve been awake for an hour and I’m falling back to sleep again! I just “ordered” some coffee but Jessie is not yet moving, but since she’s curled up around me, I guess I’ll get over it. :)
I believe I need to stay awake, go for a walk and see if that wont get me back on a human schedule. Getting a bit concerned at this point but usually if I just go ahead and “sleep it off,” the fatigue that is, I perk right back up. Usually doesn’t take this long.

I’m 100% Southern and consider that to be a good thing. I’m sorry for the people that don’t understand.
I grew up in Jackson, Mississippi where I went to Jim Hill High School and Millsaps College. I worked several jobs while going to college but most often could be found behind the counter at good old “Speed-E Food.” One of the most fun jobs I ever had, because of the people that lived in South Jackson.
After college, I went to work for the IRS as a Revenue Agent. I loved it and I was good at it but my health fell apart. I had to take a position of as a Functional Automation Coordinator, which was fancy Government speak for Computer Analyst.
I finally came to my senses. Decided working wasn’t a good idea for me and applied for disability. It was granted. As soon as I was shed of my responsibilities in the states, I flew to the Philippines to find out what was out there.
What I found here has been awesome, its not perfect here but I have much more of a life here than I could have in the USA. It is just too costly to live in the US for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love the USA. I miss it too. I wonder what it will feel like when I get back.
Can’t seeem to stay awake at all today. I woke up at 8:30 drank some coke, dreank some coffee when I got sleep just before 9:30 and back to sleep before 10am. Woke back up a noon an about to fall to sleep ai, 45 minutes later. Beginnin to think something is wrong.
hi Rusty,
I hit your blog from time to time and I wish you the best. I enjoy your postings and I just hope that I will some day make a visit for short or longer period in the Phillipines.
Take care of yourself man, health is very important.
Nick
Hi Nick,
Thanks for coming by. I hope you’ll leave your thoughts more often. Blogs like this, with many topics have problems keeping loyal visitor as the topics change so often. That’s why I have so many other blogs, to keep my favorite topics moved to other locations where people might be more interested.
Yeah, health. I should have never started on these cigars… :) they are so good though.
