Trip to Bantayan Island

Friday, Jessie and I went to Bantayan Island for a night.   We stayed at Tristan’s Resort again, always a solid choice.  Great food and about fifteen bucks (P800) a night right on the beach of Santa Fe Bay.   Its a beautiful place.

Joe Bogo was visiting Bogo City as a possible place to live in the future.  We went with him to Bantayan Island but had to come back the next day.  He’s still there and from the sounds of his text message having a great time!  He visited the disco at Tickety Boo and met some locals there.

I look forward to reading about his adventures in the Philippines when he finally has time to write about them.  He’s only got a couple of weeks left and based on what he’s told me has the foundation for some fantastic stories.  I’m hoping he will write about them on my HeyJoe.Ph site.

I had a very relaxing time on Bantayan this time around.  Jessie was missing

her chocolate and her computer games.    Christine, a Filipina from Australia was also in Bogo City this last week.  She brought Jessie some chocolate candy and Jessie ate ever single piece, she didn’t offer even one.  I’m sure she would have if not for my diabetes.  She’s learning its best not to offer and tempt me when I might otherwise have the will power not to partake.  I should never eat chocolate but sometimes I do.  :)

I came back all rested and peaceful, I didn’t think it was possible to be more rested than I already am but I was wrong.  I felt so mellow, sitting on my front porch, smoking my Filipino made cigar.

I missed my Coke Zero while on the Island.   Nancy from Tristan’s explained they have a hard time keeping it in stock.  Its an Island and some things are harder to get because of that, Coke Zero is one of those.   Tristan’s Resort was great as usual and the rooms were only P800.  They go up a bit more during the peak season which is October to April.   During Holy Week (week of Easter) the price generally will double as Bantayan Island is famous for their somber Holy Week observations.

I like the Island, in part, because there are not a lot of people there.  I fear that wont last.   As more and more people learn about the place.

I know I look for more time there, taking time out of my slow paced life for an even slower life in the Philippines.
