Rusty

I’m 100% Southern and consider that to be a good thing. I’m sorry for the people that don’t understand.

I grew up in Jackson, Mississippi where I went to Jim Hill High School and Millsaps College. I worked several jobs while going to college but most often could be found behind the counter at good old “Speed-E Food.” One of the most fun jobs I ever had, because of the people that lived in South Jackson.

After college, I went to work for the IRS as a Revenue Agent. I loved it and I was good at it but my health fell apart. I had to take a position of as a Functional Automation Coordinator, which was fancy Government speak for Computer Analyst.

I finally came to my senses. Decided working wasn’t a good idea for me and applied for disability. It was granted. As soon as I was shed of my responsibilities in the states, I flew to the Philippines to find out what was out there.

What I found here has been awesome, its not perfect here but I have much more of a life here than I could have in the USA. It is just too costly to live in the US for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love the USA. I miss it too. I wonder what it will feel like when I get back.

Hi Rusty – I am an American living in Davao City. We actually have a lot of sources of good cheese down here. We can get the land of lakes stuff at SM, which I agree is pretty good. We can also get cheeses locally made from European expats from several sources and it is great too.

I enjoy grilled cheese sandwiches regularly!

    Good luck to you!

Hi Rusty – I’m like you, when it comes to prices, I think Filipino already. I’ve been living here for 8 1/2 years already, and have never left the Philippines in that time (I have a resident visa), so my thinking is definitely Filipino in terms of prices these days!

Yes, I own Mindanao.com and a lot of other good domain names. I have been purchasing domains since the early 90′s, so there were lots of good names available back then.

Don’t worry, there is no military action anywhere near Davao. In fact, I have traveled to every province in Mindanao, and the “hotspots” are very limited. What you read on the news is not always so true.
