Philippine Food
I sure would love a grilled cheese sandwich and some Kroger Colby Cheese. I might spend $3000 to get one if I had it. That’s what it would cost for me to fly back to the states. A big fat juicy hamburger would be nice too.
I might even see my daughter and mother too! I’m kidding of course, I would but I really crave a good old grilled cheese sandwich.
Good cheese is hard to come by here. There is Land Of Lakes cheese in some places that is good. Other than that, I haven’t been able to find cheese and that brand of cheese is hard to find.

Hi Rusty – I am an American living in Davao City. We actually have a lot of sources of good cheese down here. We can get the land of lakes stuff at SM, which I agree is pretty good. We can also get cheeses locally made from European expats from several sources and it is great too.
I enjoy grilled cheese sandwiches regularly!
Good luck to you!
Hey Bob… That’s a really nice domain name in your email, is it yours? Or a public email address? I should would love to have cebu.com :)
I have not been to Davao, perhaps in time but I’ll likely let things cool off first, besides, I’ve only been here six months and I’m still broke. Starting over is kind of hard but most of the time a lot of fun.
I really appreciate you stopping by and appreciate even more your posting a message. I took a quick look at your site, good job! I’ll try to remember to get by and post there soon. :)
If you need a place to waste some time LOL join us at http://expats.heyjoe.ph It is a new forum so it wont waste a lot of your time. :)
Land of The Lakes is pretty good but it just is not Kroger Colby. That was some REALLY good cheese. I use to eat way to much of it. The Land of the Lakes is really expensive. I’m in Bogo City and there is no Land of the Lakes here. All I can find is that processed plastic they call cheese. LOL But with the price of it here… I hate to spend …. I can’t remember how much it was. I can go down to our seaside BBQ and feed two people for less than what one block of that cheese cost.
I think I’m starting to think Filipino, 300p isn’t much at all when you think of it in American terms but it is a lot in Filipino terms. Its good to think that way. I inherited a family of five and about to add two more to the mix which is really cool but my pension only goes so far. And it not as far as the Filipina told me it would go. LOL
Well it sounded like a lot of money but now she understands that a better standard of living is not cheap.
I’m still loving it here. Especially when my health is holding together.
Please come by often!
Hi Rusty – I’m like you, when it comes to prices, I think Filipino already. I’ve been living here for 8 1/2 years already, and have never left the Philippines in that time (I have a resident visa), so my thinking is definitely Filipino in terms of prices these days!
Yes, I own Mindanao.com and a lot of other good domain names. I have been purchasing domains since the early 90′s, so there were lots of good names available back then.
Don’t worry, there is no military action anywhere near Davao. In fact, I have traveled to every province in Mindanao, and the “hotspots” are very limited. What you read on the news is not always so true.
