Wacky Blood Sugar Behavior
My blood sugar is doing some very strange things. Its crashing when it makes no sense to me and today after walking for about 1.5 miles my blood sugar was a mind blowing 276. That’s after my walk. Perhaps its because
I’ve not been walking as much as I should. I didn’t feel like it again today but just forced myself to do it. I had some sugar free candy that claims its safe for diabetics to use on the package.
I may have to confirm that. I’ve not been eating as much this month, in the past I used it to try to not eat anything with calories in it. I hope I’ve not been getting screwed around. Surely not. One time I was taking vitamins that where packed full of sugar and was pushing my blood sugar up.
That brings to light one of the problems with diabetes, it makes you tired and the tiredness it makes it harder to do the things one needs to do to make things better. That’s just one strange reading though. I’m running low on test strips though and they are expensive. Since it takes me about six weeks to get my money back from the insurance company, I wont be able to get more any time soon. Maybe In June, probably not until July. They are going to cost me $100, I’m not sure if that is for 25 strips or for 100. I hope it is for 100! That’s what they cost in the Philippines! Things like that are generally not less expensive here though.
To get cheaper medications or anything else, you must get generics or from other countries. As long as you stay with the major chains in the Philippines, you’ll get quality drugs. Going to the smaller Pharmacies in the Philippines will usually be okay but from time to time you’ll find someone that is cutting their drugs. Meaning the dose is less than it should be. Every so often, one can see such cases in the Philippine newspapers.
I felt better after my walk. I slept most of the day, got up and went to the post office and walked back. Jessie will be going to Cebu City tomorrow. I wish I was going too but we’ll spend an extra one thousand peso if I go and then I may not be up to walking for a week.
I’m keeping the weight off though. The 10 pounds I lost from last month is still off. That’s very good news. I weighed Juliet today too, she’s about 7.2 pounds.
Popularity: 25%
I am also on diet. I have to loose 12kg and I decided to go on a sugarless high proteins diet. That means not absorbing more than 1200 cal. per day for the next 8-10 weeks.
I am a big guy, 1,88m (6′-2″) 98kg.
I have been on a diet before but this time it will be mostly fish diet.
I noticed that if I eat one mackerel per day

plus say two eggs and some fruits I could achieve my goal without being too hungry.
Since I started a week ago, I am already off 1kg on my way to a total of 12.
P.S. Rusty, is it possible to up-load images here?
No, not possible. You would know have to know how to do the HTML code and link to them from a fee photo site.
I’m not on a diet, they don’t work. I’m working on a life style change but I’ve been working on it a long time. I get a little ahead then fall behind. Constant working on it is the only thing that will work.
Well, once my thyroid went over active for a few months. Before it cleared up, I lost 40 pounds and kept it off for quite a while. The shaking wasn’t very pleasant though!
It tested high but the docs could find no reason for it so they didn’t treat it. Then it just went away. sometimes docs think I’m making stuff up, I love it when the get results like that if they’ve been treating me that way. Then they just shake their head and say I’m complicated. :)
Every now and then, you’ll find a doctor that says I don’t know. I really like for a doctor to say that.
I’ve battled with depression much of my life and I’ve learned that when I’m down and I may not even know it untill its over, I’ve been eating too much. I think depression causes an empty feeling and what better way to counteract that then to eat too much.
Rusty, we’re opposites. When I’m depressed or stressed, I cant’t eat! food tastes like paper.
Christine, I think most women tend to go that way, or at least a lot more often. Jessie starves herself when she’s stressed.
You hardly ever hear of an anorexic man but there are a lot of anorexic women and it seems I fall for them and then I have a mess on my hands. :)
Here is the picture you wanted to display…
The doctors keep testing me for thyroid because I am always so tired but those tests always come back normal. But, no matter how many iron pills I take, my iron level is extremely, extremely low and they can find no reason for that. Any thoughts?
I always tell our doctor that he has to give my money back when he tells me that it’s a virus, there is nothing to do for it, etc. I don’t think I should have to pay for nothing. I guess you are paying for the luxury of knowing it’s just a virus.
Prissy Yeah, finally. Glad you’re here.
A virus. LOL That’s funny. When all else fails its a virus. I suppose there could be a lot of virus out there that we don’t yet know anything about.
Do you really tellt he doctor that?
Ask him to consider auto-immune disease. Fana test if he hasn’t already done it.
Liver function test too. Tell him he can consult with Dr. Rusty and I’ll give him a discount. :)
Hmm, I thought plural virus was spelled viri did they outlaw that form of it, spell check doesn’t like it. Or is my spell checker just stupid. :)
Rusty, plural is “Viruses” – you should’ve known that! :)
I think I probably did at some point but I see others typee it viri, I actually think I remember a teacher telling us that was wrong but I couldnt’ remember what was right and my spell checker didn’t offer that as a choice. So I decided it most be one of those one word matches all. I’m sure I will forget by tomorrow again…..
Besides, if I had known it you wouldn’t have had such a good time pointing out my mistake. :P
You do spelling, I hate it, I’ll do numbers. Okay?
Jessie does both well. She was in college taking accounting but had to stop.. And she spells great. Which is amazing since she pronounces so many English words like it would be said in English. Then she will tell me she pronounced it right.
Today the word was secluded which she pronounced as sicluded three times, each time telling me she didnt’t say it that way. She finally got her tongue to do what she was thinking on the fourth try and acted as if she did it that way the whole time. Like a cat, refuses to have made a mistake. I think its funny as people have been accusing me of that all my life, t hat I never make a mistake. i just tell them they are correct. hehehe
Hey Rusty, I read that you are on disability. Is that so. I’m on social security disability and get my meds from the VA. Do you know where I could get my meds from there. Isn’t there a VA hospital there in Manila? If so I think I could get my meds mailed to me in Bogo City where I’m planning to move to soon. I have a gf there I’ve been chatting with every day for 2 months now. Actually I’ve been planning to move there somewhere for several years now. I’ve been through several online gf’s but I think this one in Bogo is the one. I hope we can meet once I get there. Take care, Jerry
