The Allied Bank ATM is great news and definitely something that should work with my Bank Card (from Singapore, works in other Allied ATMs also), so 50% good news already.

Wireless-only internet would be fine with me also, I use SmartBro or Globe Tattoo/Visibility elsewhere, so it would be good, if that works there also – but even here in Mactan it’s both quite shaky. Hmmmmm, guess I have to find out.

I didn’t get an email, probably buried some where in the 3700 spam messages that email account has. LOL I just got out of it looking for a message.

There is an ATM machine but I don’t think it works with International cards. I met a girl there a few months back and when she ran short of money she had come back to Bogo City in order to get cash, she explained her ATM wouldn’t work. She was from England. I just found out that Allied Bank does have an ATM there, so not sure why the girl had issues. There is also only one ATM on the Island so you should expect a long line. I’d take what I need with me and hope to avoid the ATM, I’d hate to count on it!

There is Internet access on the Island and I think its likely to be wireless. The only “cable” that i s available as far as I know is Satellite. The last time I was there, Tristan’s was building a computer station for their guest so there is Internet but I have no idea who it is from. I’ll try to find out though.

If you come through Bogo and have any time, perhaps I could meet you some place. My cell phone 0921-300-2265. Text me, I hate talking and unless I know who it is, i probably wont answer. LOL :) I know, I need to do better. ) I seem to have a phone phobia. :)

My last visit to the island is about 4 years back and I’m thinking of going there again, staying for a bit longer this time (a few weeks, maybe even months).

2 questions marter my brain:

Do you know, if there is meanwhile an ATM on the island, which can be used
with international bank cards? Something like Metrobank, Allied, BPI, RCBS,
Chinabank, Bancnet or similar connection? A few years back there was only a
Farmers Bank (or similar) without ATM in the capital town, so you had to go
back to the mainland to withdraw funds.

And another question: do you know about private internet access on Bantayan?
I’m currently driving around the country, using SmartBro (3H/UMTS/HSDPA) or Globe Tattoo almost anywhere I go with great success (except on Samar and with limits Leyte). A small island like Bantayan would be naturally different. Did you use private internet
there during your last visit? What would you recommend?

I’ve been feeling lazy for the last month, I’ve not even been out of the house since I got back from Bangkok. My chest is congested so that has me hugging the aircon.

I did give up for a while but I don’t think I’ll do that again. I’m usually quite the fighter and was unhappy with myself at the time.

I’m a bit of a loner but only when I have that one special person. Someone told that to me about me about 20 years ago.

Though I talk about my health and I guess it limits me, I don’t see it as a huge problem. Its more like small talk to me. Just documenting, my life for myself really. This kind of site is not a good place to do that for anyone else as when I cease to be it will cease too as there will be no one to pay the bills. :) Hard to gain immortality that way.

Sorry to see that your health problems are a non-stop harassment, hopefully one day you will feel better.
Oh, and do I ever know how it must be difficult to manage a constant flow of new health problems. But do we have much of a choice except to fight back when illness strikes?
