My internet connection since coming the the Philippines has been weak at best. The Smart Internet we had in Talisay wasn’t too bad. The Globe Internet we have had in Bogo City has been horrible since day one until yesterday.
Yesterday we finally got a tech out here and after I killed his modem while he was here, he replaced it and now we’re getting what we’ve been paying for. I killed it by starting all of my IM programs at the same time. Our 2Mb per second line is a lot faster than the early DSL I had in the USA. Now it is no match for the Business Class Road Runner I had for years and it is not that much cheaper. About $42 a month at the current exchange rate of 47P to 1 USD.
But this is fine, it is half the cost of my 1.5+ line I left behind in the states and I didn’t have any smoking hot Filipina girls loving me in the states. So I’ll take the trade off.
Now I would like to return to the states for a bit. Would be hard to be away from Jessie for an entire month though. That’s for certain. Geesh, I have to take care of myself again. Jessie does everything for me. Its a good life here indeed. Especially if your physically lazy like me.
I went for a walk today, total of about 1.5 files. A little more around 20 minutes aerobic time. I’m still not well but I’m better. Now it feels like hay fever and not the dreaded lupus monster kicking my butt to the curb. I actually feel pretty good.
We went down to the seaside BBQ tonight, was nice as always. We need to find another place to go though. Too much fun in one location will make it boring. I want to go visit one of the many karaoke bars around town but they generally don’t have air conditioning and Jessie and I have no desire to make complete fools out of ourselves. I don’t think they have enough San Miguel in the entire country to get me to do that on a microphone no less!
Thought it was way past time for a more lighthearted posts about the day to day live of an American expat living in the Philippines. We are likely to hire a new YAYA (Live in Nanny) tomorrow. We met her down at the Seaside BBQ of course. ;) I’ll be working on my pictures for September soon. I’m jealous of all the people writing about Fall settling in at Memphis. oh well, I’ll guess I’ll get over it. Such a hard life here, girl watching and hanging out on the web.
