Multiple Reports that Obama has Opened
10 Point Lead Over McCain
Amount others, a WSJ/NBC poll is showing that Barack Obama has opened up a 10 point lead in the presidential race. It is hard to say if this is accurate.
Youth Vs. Seniors
One huge area that has to concern Obama is that the youth vote as a serious history of not showing up. Poll them all you want but if they don’t show up it means nothing. And this trend has been seen before. They did not show up for Al Gore. Nor did they show up for John Kerry and that played a significant role in the outcome of the election
It is generally felt that Obama is not pulling in much of the senior vote and I think this could make a difference in the election as opposed to the polls. The only way to counter it is to get the youth to actually vote. Obama is said to have a massive get out the vote machine in place and that just might make this election a landslide for Obama. Getting out the youth vote is critical in my opinion. It was only four years ago most of the pundants were saying they felt John Kerry was really going to get out the youth vote
Federal Reserve Chief Ben Bernanke Endorses Obama
While most endorsements don’t matter much, Colin Powell’s certainly did and Ben Bernanke will as well, if it gets any press. I don’t think it will get a lot of press though. It wasn’t a straight out endorsement as that would really be improper I think, but the economic stimulus package he suggested was similar to that of Barack Obama’s.
Both of these endorsements are powerful. Joe the Plumber gave McCain some push but I think as the news came out about the plumber being flat wrong, that slight momentum turned away and I think Colin Powell put the death nail into John McCain’s chances.
Popularity: 4%
I think that Obama is starting to pull more of the senior vote as well.
