One of the most perplexing things about God is why bad things happen to good people. Some say it is God’s will, maybe God needs to teach someone through these pains and troubles. While I do think God can turn the bad into something positive, to give us something good from suffering, I don’t believe he brings them on in the first place.
God created the earth, then he turned it over to man. I don’t really see the apple and the serpent as an actual real story but rather a way to explain things to us. I don’t know this, but that’s what makes sense to me. God gave us a choice and that is what the fruit or apple represents. And man being man, well we like control and we like to do things our way.
About a month ago, my friend, Rick Kirchoff pointed me to a man whom challenged himself to stay in constant contact with God. This man’s name is Frank Laubach. He is also known for his educational work while in the Philippines.
I guess I’m one to push the envelope, especially of large traditional institutions like the United Methodist Church. I forgot that a large part of the Disciple Bible Study are the tapes that are watched at the beginning of each session. Not having those tapes would take a lot away from the class.
