Sleep, Sleep and More Sleep

Mr. Sandman, LEAVE ME ALONE

From time to time, I go through these periods where I just cannot stay awake. The last week or so has been like that. Yesterday I got up around 7 or 8am. Later I went back to sleep and slept until around 5:30PM. I really don’t like this pattern when it hits. Right now I’m very sleepy as I type this.Cant Stay Awake.

I have been resisting it on many of the days. Drinking coffee to stay awake. Sometimes that didn’t work either. I always blamed it on lupus but the doctor said people don’t usually go to sleep with lupus. I asked some of my lupus friends and they said yes, it happens to them. One called it a coma sleep. I prefer to call it the zombie sleep.

Diabetes, Exercise and Exotic Pets

Diabetes

I had another low blood sugar yesterday. Not a bad one. I felt shaky and check and was down to 79 which officially is not low but I was having some symptoms. Mostly shaky and irritable, felt like I need a Xanax but decided it was probably blood sugar. I was right, so I had some milk and two pieces of candy before I felt normal again. My legs were weak though so I didn’t go on my walk.

Weather & Exercise

I was getting ready to go for a walk when it hit. I planned to go up until the point I felt weak in my legs and decided I shouldn’t go. I’ve not gone as much in the last week as i should. I plan on going today but it is getting cloudy. If it actually rains, that would be helpful. It has been extremely hot in the last couple of weeks. Around 33 for highs at 60% or higher humidity! Its only 91 degrees which would be a cool day in July in Memphis but the humidity would be around 20% or less when its that hot. Not here, it gets even hotter just before a rainy day. Then it usually gets cooler after that. This time of the year, the cooler period doesn’t last long, usually not even an entire day.

Chronically Ill

Challenging Days

Chronic illness are two scary words when you first hear them. Easy to forget when you heard them so long ago. High blood pressure at 29 is where it started I suppose. That probably scared me but I no longer remember. Diabetes did but I misunderstood the doctor, he was diagnosing “glucose intolerance.” That is just a precursor to diabetes. I think he was wrong since the test showed my blood sugar going over 200 at that time. But that’s not the point.

Lupus And The Brain

CNS LUPUS

Lupus is a disease where a persons immune system becomes confused and attacks their own healthy tissue. It can range from mild to deadly. Most people are some place in the middle, at least for most of their illness.

The treatment for lupus is by use of medications that have their own severe side effects. This includes steroids (not the type that athletes take) that cause damage in more ways that I know but one is weight gain and damage to muscles. Doctors also mentioned arteries.

Muscle Pain Revisited

Muscle Pain Vs. Norgesic Forte

I was fearful of the change from cyclobenzaprine to Norgesic Forte. Now that I’ve made the change, I’m very hopeful. Within 24 hours all the pain in my calve muscles were gone. All the pain in my face and most my shoulder pain is gone as well.

I’ve been dealing with pain in these areas since my teens. Lupus could be the cause, diabetes can be part of the muscle pain as well. Now, I have diagnosed myself with Scleroderma and that is even more likely to be related to my muscle pain. I’ll get a second opinion from my doctor next month. :)
