AdSense Revenue Slowly Growing

When I started monetizing my sites with AdSense, my first goal was just to get at least one click a day.  I went a lot of days with no clicks.  Now, I rarely have days with no clicks.  I have a lot of days with 10 clicks.  Oh this is still small time.  A few days ago, I read on a support forum that someone was having trouble with his monitoring software  because it limited him to 100,000 clicks in seven days.  I wanted to write back and just say “show off.”  I was afraid he wouldn’t understand my humor so I didn’t do it.  Oh I still have my poor days.

Now my goal is to earn a dollar day.  Small, slow steps.  I’ve undertaken web activities in the past that made a lot of money fast but then they would crash and burn and I mostly end up breaking even.

Some Tax Advantages for having a small business.

Though I did make an after tax profit in one year.  And I’ve always had a positive cash flow, I’ve had tax losses due to depreciation and other non-cash expenses.  There are tax advantages to running a business out of your home, but I don’t think I’m going to go into depth on that.  Instead consult your tax specialist.  It would likely be well worth your time and money.  I will advise that you keep it honest, an office in the home expense will often draw an audit by the IRS.

I will say that is not uncommon for a business to show a loss for tax purposes yet increase the owners cash flow.  If you have a salary, pension or interest income the business loss can reduce the taxes you would have otherwise paid.  If you qualify for an office in the home is the easiest way to do this.  The requirements are somewhat rigid so consult your tax adviser.

It also takes time to learn how to get yourself into search engines.  I’ve been reading and learning for many years and only recently began to understand that I have a lot of knowledge that I have not been using effectively.

Now that I have, I’m beginning to see that slow growth that will eventually lead to significant income.  I think this will take five years before I begin to earn enough money to significantly improve my life style.  But I believe it is coming.  I only wish I had started five years ago.

I’m going to stress again, the key is to get started.  The more you write the better you’ll get at it.   The  more you write, the more opportunities you will find to write.  I am chatting online much less now but my time is being used much more productively.  Are you spending hours a day chatting?  How many of these people will still be talking to you in a year, in five years?  I’ve known 100′s of people online and there are only two that has lasted for any lenght of time at all.  Stop chatting, put your nose to the grindstone and get busy churning out the words.  Words equal content.  Content equals traffic.  Traffic equals dollars.  I may have to come up with a formula based on that idea.
